Thomas suffers from this a little, too, but he leaves it for the beginning of the book and then dives into specialized knowledge.

IMHO, such material would be better left out altogether, and turn this book into a pure niche design reference for sailplanes. The author covers a lot of material, but not in enough depth to really do any good. For example, for a specialized book on sailplane design, we really don't need yet another overview of basic aerodynamics, nor three entire chapters on airplane stability, especially if it's going to be so truncated.
